By Michael S Scherenberg

Today, one of the basics for any PC is a good antivirus. AVG is one such antivirus software available over the Internet today. One of the reasons for the popularity of AVG is that it is available in both paid and free versions. However, there might be times when you want to upgrade to the newer AVG version. You might also want to install a different antivirus version or your current version might not be installed properly. In all these situations, you would need to uninstall AVG. But, if you aren't able to uninstall AVG, it could be very frustrating.

So if you haven't been able to uninstall AVG using the Add/Remove Programs utility provided by Windows, there's no need to worry. There are two ways in which you can uninstall AVG. These are:

• The AVG Remover Tool
• Third-Party Software Application Remover

Let's learn about these methods in detail:

The AVG Remover Tool

Before you can use the AVG Remover tool, you first need to download and install it. To do this, you should go to the AVG home page and search for the AVG Remover tool. After you locate it, download the tool, and install it on your PC. Then, you can run this tool to uninstall AVG.

However, you need to follow the instructions and let your computer restart as many times as the tool asks for. When you use this tool, it removes AVG users and their data, the content of the Virus vault, and registry entries. This tool also deletes any information related to AVG.

This is a lot of information and while uninstalling this information, which might also include certain essential Windows files or your user details. That is why it is imperative that you use this tool only if you were unable to uninstall AVG using regular methods.

Third-Party Software Application Remover

Another method available for uninstalling AVG is to use a third-party software application remover. Several companies provide tools that help you uninstall several kinds of software applications. One such example is called Perfect Uninstaller. This tool provides two ways to uninstall software applications.

One of the ways is to simply open the application and select the installed software application you want to uninstall, in this case AVG. Then, click Uninstall. This activates the uninstaller provided with AVG to uninstall AVG.

If this doesn't uninstall AVG, Perfect Uninstaller also provides another option called Force Uninstall. To use this option, you just need to browse to the folder in which AVG was installed. Right-click the folder and click Force Uninstall. As a result, Force Uninstaller will uninstall AVG and delete all relevant files. These include AVG drivers and registry files. This option also prevents AVG from launching automatically.

However, there may be times when none of these options manage to rectify the problem. In such situations, it is best to call for remote IT support offered by a dependable and experienced PC repair company, which can range from remote technical support.

Today, options like remote IT support or remote computer repair offered by companies like Fixit99.com enable you to investigate and fix the problem without needing to bother going out and locating a reliable IT support person. In the meantime, you should install a reliable antivirus software program and use a reliable registry cleaner tool to remove remaining AVG file.
